Brentwood, California, in Contra Costa county, is 7 miles SE of Antioch, California (center to center) and 32 miles E of Oakland, California. It’s situated along the San Joaquin Delta in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Short term rentals in Brentwood are hard to find. The area produces cherries, apricots, plums, peaches and corn, however the city has become more of a residential community. The landscape features rolling hills, oak trees and fruit orchards. Residents have excellent views of the impressive Mt. Diablo.
The city was established in 1878 when the railroad arrived. It began as a farming community. In 1890 it was a major shipping location for grains. Fruit orchards were established beginning in the early 1920s. The community was founded on acreage donated by John Marsh. The city is named in tribute to Marsh’s former residence, Brentwood, England.

The Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta is popular for boating and fishing. The Marsh Creek Trail is enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts. The Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge and Mt. Diablo State Park are close by. The city is home to the Sunset Park Athletic Complex and the Family Aquatic Complex. The notable Las Trampas Regional Wilderness is located in the county. Iron Horse, California State Riding and Hiking, Lafayette-Moraga Regional, Contra Costa Canal Regional and the Delta de Anza trails are some of the noteworthy locations for hiking enthusiasts.
