Other businesses with a presence in this region include Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Siemens and VSP.  The area is served by the Sacramento International Airport, a major railway hub and interstate freeways. The City of Sacramento has a beautiful Light Rail system connecting the downtown to the surrounding suburban towns. Corporate housing and short term rentals are wonderful ways to avoid the high cost of hotels.

The region also has a strong agricultural base, growing a multitude of crops including fruits, nuts, rice, wine and table grapes. Additionally, livestock and poultry are able to take advantage of the plentiful feed crops and fresh water.

Original inhabitants were from the Southern Maidu and Plains Miwok American Indian peoples.  John Sutter established Sutter’s Fort  where gold was discovered in 1849 resulting in a huge influx of American immigrants.
